Taiwan Boosts Long-Term Care Subsidies for Residential Facilities

Health Services · Medical/Nursing Services · cnyes · 2026-09-10

The Executive Yuan has upgraded its long-term care policy, increasing monthly subsidies for residential care to NT$15,000 for those with moderate to severe disabilities.

What Happened

Policy Upgrade: Premier Cho Jung-tai announced the launch of the Long-Term Care 3.0 initiative, backed by a NT$115.3 billion budget for the current year. The program aims to bridge the gap between medical care and long-term support to alleviate the burden on families in Taiwan's super-aged society.

Subsidy Adjustments: Monthly subsidies for residents in long-term care facilities with moderate to severe disabilities have been increased from NT$10,000 to NT$15,000. Additionally, individuals with moderate or higher disabilities residing in specialized institutions will receive an additional NT$5,000 monthly stipend.

Implementation Details: The new subsidy scheme is retroactive to January 1, 2024, with the application process officially opening on September 14. The government has streamlined the application and review procedures to ensure timely disbursement of funds to eligible families.

Future Outlook: The government plans to continue expanding residential and community-based day care infrastructure. Authorities are focused on improving service capacity and quality while ensuring the public is well-informed about the updated support measures.
