The Tokyo Stock Exchange and Daiwa Securities hosted a forum for asset managers and brokers to explore deeper cross-border ETF cooperation and market integration.
What Happened
Forum Objectives: The Tokyo Stock Exchange and Daiwa Securities held their inaugural Taiwan-Japan ETF Exchange Forum on September 1st, bringing together nearly 30 asset management firms and brokers. The event served as a platform to discuss cross-border ETF issuance strategies, product design, and investor education, fostering new collaborative opportunities.
Market Synergies: Taiwan Stock Exchange Executive Vice President Tu Huei-chuan highlighted that Taiwan’s ETF market, with assets reaching 11 trillion TWD, offers significant innovation, while Japan provides a mature institutional investor base. Both sides identified the complementary nature of their markets, aiming to transition from simple cross-listing to deeper market integration.
Industry Collaboration: The second half of the forum featured roundtable discussions where nearly 60 industry representatives exchanged views on market promotion and joint product development. These interactions provided a vital venue for stakeholders to share insights and build momentum for future cross-border financial initiatives.
Strategic Outlook: Tokyo Stock Exchange Executive Officer Naoki Iso-moto noted that the partnership between the two markets is steadily deepening. Looking ahead, both exchanges are committed to enhancing corporate governance and expanding professional exchanges to bolster the development of the broader Asian capital market.
