Hi-Lai Foods is building a new automated central kitchen in Kaohsiung to meet growing demand from its expanding restaurant portfolio, with completion set for 2027.

What Happened

Expansion Investment: Hi-Lai Foods announced a NT$580 million investment to build a new central kitchen in Niaosong, Kaohsiung, scheduled to be operational by the end of 2027. The project includes NT$180 million for land and NT$400 million for construction and automated equipment, replacing the current labor-intensive leased facility.

Capacity Upgrades: The company's existing Meishan central kitchen is struggling to keep pace with the supply demands of its growing restaurant network. The new facility will feature advanced automation to boost production efficiency for semi-finished goods, including dim sum fillings and vegetarian products.

Strategic Growth: Hi-Lai Foods has been aggressively expanding its footprint, with new locations in Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan. The upcoming launch of multiple brands at the Kaohsiung Fengshan LaLaport in early 2027 has necessitated this significant enhancement of the company's logistics and supply chain capabilities.

Long-term Outlook: In addition to the Niaosong project, Hi-Lai Foods is developing a larger 3,600-ping central kitchen in Xizhi, New Taipei City, with an investment of NT$1.1 billion expected to be completed by 2029. This dual-hub strategy aims to secure the company's supply chain efficiency for years to come.
