Chroma ATE shares rallied nearly 5% as the company announced plans to boost capacity by 50% by 2027, driven by robust demand for AI and HPC chip testing.
What Happened
Capacity Expansion Strategy: Chroma ATE has unveiled an ambitious plan to increase its total production capacity by 50% by 2027. This expansion will be achieved through new facility construction, localized production in China, and improved efficiency at existing sites to meet strong order visibility for AI, HPC, and ASIC applications.
Robust AI Testing Demand: Analysts note that Chroma's operations are heavily concentrated on high-end computing chip testing, with related applications accounting for nearly 80% of orders. The company expects sustained demand as chip generations evolve, driving both volume growth and higher equipment specifications.
New Product Innovation: The company showcased a 10kW high-power thermal control solution at SEMICON Taiwan 2026 to address the cooling requirements of high-power AI chips and large packages. This advancement is expected to raise technical barriers and increase the average selling price (ASP) of its ATC Handler equipment.
Advancing Optoelectronics: Beyond traditional electrical testing, Chroma is advancing its Insertion 4 optoelectronic testing equipment, with mass-production verification units expected to ship in Q4. This move signals a strategic expansion into integrated optical-electrical testing, further diversifying the company's product portfolio.
