Global Unichip (GUC) surged to a record high of NT$6,610, becoming the third-largest high-priced stock in Taiwan as AI demand fuels growth in the ASIC sector.
What Happened
GUC Stock Surge: Global Unichip (GUC) reached a historic high of NT$6,610 during intraday trading, securing its position as the third-largest high-priced stock on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The company reported robust financial growth, with August revenue soaring 111.02% year-over-year, driven by sustained AI demand.
Massive Capital Raising: The company's board has approved a NT$40 billion syndicated loan and plans to issue up to US$800 million in overseas convertible bonds, totaling approximately NT$65 billion in new funding. Analysts suggest this significant capital injection is intended to support the expansion of its ASIC business and meet long-term operational needs.
Project Milestones: GUC's key CPU project for a North American CSP client is slated for mass production between late this year and early next year. Additionally, a vehicle-grade chip project for another North American client has completed tape-out, with mass production expected in the second half of next year.
ASIC Industry Momentum: The ASIC design services sector has outperformed other semiconductor segments, recording a 162% year-over-year growth rate due to the scaling of various CSP projects. Other industry players, including M31 and Giantec, are also gaining investor attention through expanded technical partnerships and the maturation of key projects.
