Foreign investors offloaded NT$79.5 billion in Taiwan stocks today, marking a 10-day selling streak with heavy adjustments to TSMC and various ETFs.
What Happened
Foreign Investment Trends: Foreign investors continued their selling streak in the Taiwan stock market, offloading NT$79.54 billion today. This marks the tenth consecutive day of net selling, with the total selling pressure from major institutional investors reaching NT$96.8 billion.
Targeted Divestment: The selling was concentrated on ETFs and heavyweight stocks, with TSMC facing continuous pressure for ten straight days, totaling 132,300 shares sold. Various active and high-dividend ETFs were also primary targets for foreign capital outflows.
Futures Positioning: In the Taiwan index futures market, foreign net short positions decreased by 1,397 contracts to 89,748. While the bearish sentiment in the futures market showed slight moderation, the selling pressure in the spot market remains significant.
Market Outlook: Data from the Taiwan Stock Exchange indicates that foreign buying was limited to only a few stocks like Wistron and Taiwan Glass. The current capital flow suggests a defensive stance by foreign investors, requiring close monitoring of potential shifts in selling momentum.
