KGI Securities Partners with Industry Leaders to Navigate New ESG and IFRS Disclosure Standards

Finance · Investment Banks/Brokers · economic_daily · 2026-10-20

KGI Securities hosted a major ESG forum to guide listed companies through the integration of IFRS sustainability standards and new ESG evaluation frameworks.

What Happened

Forum on Sustainability: KGI Securities, in collaboration with IR Trust and the Chinese Independent Directors Association, hosted the "2026 ESG x IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Era" forum. The event brought together over 250 industry leaders and regulators to discuss the transition toward quantitative financial-level ESG reporting and the integration of IFRS S1/S2 standards.

Regulatory and Management Guidance: Officials from the TWSE and TPEx emphasized that companies must treat sustainability disclosure as a core management capability rather than just a compliance task. By strengthening board governance and cross-departmental collaboration, firms can better align their sustainability data with annual reports and leverage green certification programs to attract capital.

KGI Securities' Strategic Role: KGI Securities Chairman Hsu Dao-yi highlighted that high-quality sustainability data is essential for determining corporate value. The firm is actively supporting companies through the issuance of sustainability-linked bonds and leveraging its "ONE KGI" resources to help clients convert ESG performance into tangible competitive advantages.

Institutional Investor Perspective: KGI Investment Advisory Chairman Chu Yen-min noted that while ESG regulations may increase short-term costs, they significantly reduce information asymmetry in the long run. He described ESG as a "seatbelt" for investors, helping to identify climate and governance risks early while improving the overall quality of investment decision-making.
