The HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF has emerged as the top-performing non-leveraged fund in Korea this year, driven by strong AI-related market momentum.
What Happened
Top Performance: NH-Amundi Asset Management announced that its HANARO Fn K-Semiconductor ETF achieved a year-to-date return of 181.65% as of September 9. This performance ranks the fund as the highest among all non-leveraged ETFs currently listed on the Korean market.
Portfolio Composition: The ETF tracks the FnGuide K-Semiconductor Index, focusing on 20 key companies within the domestic semiconductor industry. Major holdings include Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, alongside various materials, parts, and equipment suppliers such as Jusung Engineering and ISU Petasys.
Market Dynamics: After a strong rally in the first half of the year, domestic semiconductor stocks faced significant volatility and corrections in the second half. However, sentiment has recently improved due to Nvidia's earnings results and OpenAI's latest model release, which have reignited expectations for sustained AI infrastructure spending.
Investment Outlook: Officials at NH-Amundi noted that the recent cooling of the semiconductor sector has helped resolve previous overheating issues. They suggested that the market is entering a new phase that warrants renewed investor attention as the AI-driven growth cycle continues.
