Mirae Asset Securities has launched its September retail treasury bond offering, now allowing investors to include 10-year and 20-year bonds in pension accounts.
What Happened
September Subscription Launch: Mirae Asset Securities is accepting subscriptions for retail treasury bonds from September 9th to 15th. The total issuance volume has been increased to 230 billion KRW, up 80 billion KRW from the previous month.
Pension Account Integration: Starting this month, investors can include 10-year and 20-year retail treasury bonds in their DC and IRP retirement accounts. Mirae Asset Securities significantly increased the supply of these long-term bonds to meet the growing demand from pension fund investors.
Yields and Benefits: The 20-year bond offers an average annual yield of 8.1% if held to maturity, along with tax benefits such as separate taxation on interest income up to 200 million KRW. These government-issued savings products provide high stability and compound interest based on the coupon rate plus an additional spread.
Market Sentiment: With cumulative subscriptions reaching 2.29 trillion KRW between January and August, investor interest in stable, long-term assets remains strong amid market volatility. Mirae Asset Securities expects this expansion to solidify the role of retail treasury bonds as a primary alternative for long-term retirement planning.
