Strong August Performance: The Formosa Group released its August revenue figures, with Formosa Petrochemical (FPCC) standing out as the top performer. FPCC reported monthly revenue of NT$81.9 billion, marking a 9.5% monthly increase and a 50.3% year-on-year surge, while other group members showed mixed results.
Market Reaction: Investors responded positively to FPCC's robust revenue growth, driving the stock price up by over 8% during intraday trading. The company attributed this success to a combination of higher sales volumes and increased product pricing, which significantly bolstered its monthly earnings.
Refining Margin Outlook: FPCC remains optimistic about refining margins for the third quarter, projecting an average refinery utilization rate of 91%. The company noted that ongoing supply constraints, including Russian export bans and limited Middle Eastern output, are keeping diesel price spreads at historically high levels.
Operational Adjustments: Regarding its olefin business, FPCC confirmed that the OL#3 cracker has completed annual maintenance and is set to restart in September. However, the company plans to maintain a conservative utilization rate of 40% for the third quarter to align production with actual downstream demand.
