Lite-On Semiconductor showcases its 1.6T high-speed optical transceiver module, targeting the 3.2T market through international collaboration in silicon photonics.
What Happened
International Collaboration: Lite-On Semiconductor participated in the Taiwan-Netherlands Silicon Photonics collaboration event, showcasing a 1.6T high-speed optical transceiver module alongside partners like ITRI and PHIX. This initiative aims to accelerate the development of high-speed optical interconnect technologies and strengthen the global supply chain.
Development Roadmap: The company plans to finalize its 1.6T DR8 milestone by the end of this year while aggressively pursuing 3.2T product development. With external laser source power already exceeding 20dBm, the firm targets 26dBm by next year and aims for full 3.2T product readiness by late 2027.
Core Technology Focus: Leveraging its expertise in system-in-package (SiP) technology, Lite-On is developing ELSFP modules targeting co-packaged and near-packaged optics. The company's optical engine technology integrates electronic control, optical path design, and thermal management to ensure high-performance data transmission.
Supply Chain Integration: The partnership covers the entire spectrum from light sources and modules to packaging and testing, highlighting Taiwan’s semiconductor and optoelectronics ecosystem. The company intends to further deepen these international ties through upcoming global industry summits.
