Foreign investors continued their buying spree in the Taiwan stock market for the second consecutive day, focusing heavily on active ETFs and DRAM stocks.
What Happened
Market Performance: The Taiwan stock market saw a modest gain today, closing up 142.6 points at 45,975.22 despite late-session weakness in TSMC. Trading volume rebounded to NT$924.68 billion as investors navigated a volatile trading day.
Foreign Capital Inflow: Foreign institutional investors extended their buying streak to two days, injecting a net NT$49.09 billion into the market. Combined with domestic institutional buying, the total net inflow from major institutional players reached NT$64.31 billion.
Strategic Allocations: Capital flows were heavily concentrated in active ETFs, such as the Uni-President series, reflecting a preference for managed investment vehicles. In the equity space, DRAM manufacturers Nanya Technology and Winbond Electronics were the primary targets, each seeing over 30,000 shares added by foreign funds.
Institutional Divergence: While foreign investors aggressively accumulated DRAM stocks, domestic investment trusts showed a different strategy by offloading significant positions in UMC. This divergence highlights shifting sentiment across the semiconductor and financial sectors among major market participants.
