Food giant Uni-President reported record-breaking nine-month results, with strong performance in its core food business and retail subsidiaries driving earnings.

What Happened

Earnings Performance: Uni-President reported consolidated revenue of NT$537.005 billion for the first nine months, with net profit attributable to the parent company rising 26.1% to NT$21.006 billion. EPS reached NT$3.7, marking a record for the period and exceeding the company's total profit for the previous year.

Food Business: The food and grain division saw an 8.5% year-on-year revenue increase, supported by stable domestic operations and successful expansion of Uni-President China's sales channels. Despite currency fluctuations, Uni-President China achieved record net profit for the first three quarters.

Retail Contribution: The retail division, led by 7-ELEVEN operator President Chain Store Corp, remained a key profit driver with record revenue and earnings. Growth was fueled by strong performance in Taiwan’s 7-ELEVEN stores, as well as contributions from international operations and subsidiaries like Cosmed and Starbucks.

Packaging Challenges: In contrast to the food and retail segments, the packaging container division experienced a 22% revenue decline. This was largely due to US anti-dumping investigations into tinplate and intensified market competition, which significantly impacted the profitability of subsidiary Uni-President Tinplate.
