Battery material supplier Camphor reported an 840% surge in nine-month profit and announced a US$45 million investment in Vietnam to boost nickel sulfate capacity.
What Happened
Financial Performance: Camphor reported a Q3 net profit of NT$161 million, up 92.4% year-over-year, with an EPS of NT$1.30. For the first nine months, net profit reached NT$596 million, an 840.8% increase, driven by strong EV material shipments and a lower base period from the previous year.
Global Expansion: To meet robust demand from Japanese and European automakers, Camphor is investing an additional US$45 million into its Vietnam subsidiary to expand nickel sulfate production for ternary lithium batteries. The new facility is in the final stages of customer verification and is expected to be a key growth driver.
Diversified Operations: Beyond battery materials, Camphor is leveraging its subsidiary, Heng-Yi Chemical, to expand into the semiconductor-grade sulfuric acid market and waste acid recycling. The company aims to provide closed-loop solutions for semiconductor manufacturers, targeting a recycling capacity of 2,000-3,000 tons per month.
Strategic Outlook: Despite ongoing supply chain restructuring in the global EV market, Camphor maintains a competitive edge through early market entry and established client relationships. Additionally, the company is preparing its subsidiary, Tian-Hong Chemical, for a public listing within the next one to two years.
