The 22.5 billion won 'Jung-gu Corporate Growth Fund' has finalized its first investment of 1 billion won into an AI-based wholesale market platform operator.
What Happened
Initial Fund Investment: The 22.5 billion won 'Jung-gu Corporate Growth Fund' has officially made its first investment one year after its inception. An AI-driven wholesale market integration platform developer was selected as the first recipient, receiving 1 billion won in funding.
Market Impact: The recipient company has already demonstrated the utility of its system among merchants in the Namdaemun and Dongdaemun markets. Moving forward, the firm plans to develop systems tailored for local commercial districts and provide POS systems to local merchants free of charge for a set period.
Fund Structure: Launched last August, the fund was established with a 1 billion won contribution from the district, supplemented by the Korea Fund of Funds and private capital. The mandate requires at least 3 billion won to be invested in new industry firms located in or relocating to the Jung-gu district.
Economic Development: The district held a first-anniversary report meeting to review performance and future strategies. District Mayor Kim Gil-sung emphasized that the fund aims to create a virtuous cycle where corporate growth leads to job creation and enhanced regional economic competitiveness.
