GMT reported record-breaking August revenue with a 337.8% year-on-year surge, driven by strong demand for silicon photonics and AI transmission equipment.
What Happened
Explosive Revenue Growth: GMT reported August consolidated revenue of NT$220 million, a 10% monthly increase and a 337.8% year-on-year surge, reaching a new historical high. With cumulative revenue for the first eight months up 190.2% to NT$1.123 billion, the company has successfully emerged from its previous operational trough.
Strategic Market Positioning: The company has successfully entered the silicon photonics, CPO, and AI high-speed transmission equipment markets, with optical communication products accounting for 79% of its first-half revenue. GMT's competitive edge lies in its vertical integration, from components to modules, supported by proprietary algorithms and strong partnerships with major equipment manufacturers.
Expansion and IPO Plans: To meet surging demand, GMT is investing in an optical and medical manufacturing facility to double its capacity and is planning a new assembly plant in Thailand. The company is on track to apply for a transition from the Emerging Stock Board to a formal OTC listing in the second quarter of next year, with a target listing date by the end of 2025.
Future Outlook: Analysts expect GMT's second-half profitability to outperform the first half, with the company aiming for record annual results. As new products ramp up in the first quarter of next year and capacity doubles in the second quarter, GMT is well-positioned to further penetrate the wafer inspection market.
