FTSE Russell has unveiled its latest quarterly index review for Taiwan, with PharmaEssentia joining the Taiwan 50 Index while Alchip-KY is removed.
What Happened
Index Rebalancing: FTSE Russell has released its latest quarterly review for Taiwan indices, featuring significant changes to the Taiwan 50 Index. PharmaEssentia will be added to the index, while Alchip-KY will be removed, with changes taking effect after the market close on September 18, 2026.
Mid-Cap and Tech Indices: The Taiwan Mid-Cap 100 Index will see the addition of Alchip-KY and Elite Semiconductor Microelectronics, while Taiwan Elite Material is removed. Simultaneously, the Taiwan Information Technology Index will add Elite Semiconductor Microelectronics and drop Nuvoton Technology.
Broad Market and Dividend Indices: The Taiwan Developed Index will include additions such as Lianyu Metal and Peil Biomedical, while removing Taiwan Elite Material and Tatung. The Taiwan High Dividend Index remains unchanged for this cycle, though it will undergo a five-day transition period for weight adjustments starting September 21.
Implementation and Reserves: The adjustments are scheduled to take effect on September 21, 2026. In the event of any interim deletions, the indices will utilize their respective reserve lists, which currently include Formosa Plastics for the Taiwan 50 Index and Capital Securities for the Mid-Cap 100 Index.
