Coinone Joins Zero-Fee War as Crypto Market Rebounds
Finance · Investment Banks/Brokers · yonhap_finance · 2026-08-26
Coinone has introduced zero-fee trading for all assets to attract users, intensifying competition among South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges.
What Happened
Zero-Fee Policy: Cryptocurrency exchange Coinone announced that it will implement a 0% trading fee policy for all assets starting August 26. Users can access this benefit by obtaining a voucher through the platform, which is valid for 30 days and can be renewed indefinitely.
Intensifying Competition: This move follows a similar strategy by Korbit, signaling an aggressive push by smaller exchanges to capture market share from dominant players. As trading fees represent the primary revenue stream for these platforms, the industry is bracing for a period of intense price competition.
Promotional Events: To mark the policy change, Coinone is launching a trading competition featuring five major assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, with a prize pool of 70,000 USDT. The exchange aims to boost trading volume and user engagement through real-time leaderboards and rewards.
Market Landscape: Currently, the South Korean crypto market is dominated by Upbit and Bithumb, which hold the vast majority of market share. Smaller exchanges like Coinone and Korbit are utilizing aggressive fee structures to challenge the status quo and improve their competitive standing.
