TSMC shares faced selling pressure as foreign holdings hit a 20-year low, but a mysterious after-hours trade at the daily limit price has investors looking for a potential market bottom.

What Happened

After-Hours Anomaly: TSMC recorded a rare after-hours block trade executed at the daily limit price of 2,605 TWD for ten shares, fueling speculation among market participants. Analysts suggest that such high-priced block trades often serve as a leading indicator for bullish sentiment, providing a potential signal for a trend reversal.

Foreign Investor Outflow: Foreign investors offloaded over 15,000 shares of TSMC in a single session, totaling 34.97 billion TWD in net selling. This activity pushed foreign ownership of the stock down to 68.4%, marking the lowest level seen in nearly two decades since late 2005.

Price Action: The stock dipped as low as 2,310 TWD during intraday trading, narrowly avoiding the critical 2,300 TWD psychological support level before closing at 2,330 TWD. Despite some government-backed buying support toward the end of the session, the stock remains under significant pressure as it tests key support levels.

Trading Volume: A total of 2,078 shares were traded through 16 block transactions, amounting to 4.85 billion TWD. Notably, several of these trades were executed just above the 2,300 TWD mark, highlighting the market's focus on whether this level will hold as a firm floor for the stock's valuation.
