TSMC reported a record-breaking August revenue of NT$514.8 billion, driven by robust AI chip demand and high capacity utilization in advanced nodes.
What Happened
Revenue Performance: TSMC reported a record-breaking monthly revenue of NT$514.8 billion for August, marking a 10.1% monthly increase and a 53.3% year-over-year surge. Cumulative revenue for the first eight months of the year reached NT$3.39 trillion, reflecting a 39.3% growth compared to the same period last year.
Growth Drivers: The strong performance is primarily attributed to surging demand for AI-related chips, which has kept production lines for 3nm, 5nm, and advanced packaging technologies at full capacity. The gradual ramp-up of 2nm production is also contributing significantly to the company's upward momentum.
Capacity Expansion: The company is accelerating the construction of its 1.4nm fabs at the Central Taiwan Science Park, with progress currently running about six months ahead of schedule. The first facility is expected to begin trial operations by April next year, further widening the gap with competitors.
Strategic Technology: TSMC is collaborating with ASML on 12-inch photomask technology to enhance production efficiency, with mass production targeted for 2030. This long-term partnership is set to solidify the company's dominant position in the global semiconductor landscape.
