Strategic Partnership: Shinhan Financial Group has entered into a strategic agreement with Visa to collaborate on digital assets and future financial business ventures. This partnership formalizes the cooperation plans previously discussed by the management of both companies in April.
Technological Collaboration: Shinhan plans to utilize Visa’s stablecoin platform to verify core functions such as issuance, remittance, and redemption, while co-designing a business model tailored to the Korean financial market. The collaboration also includes exploring the use of stablecoins for credit card payment settlements.
Future Payment Models: Both companies intend to develop AI-based payment models and expand their B2B and B2C payment operations. This initiative is aimed at proactively responding to the rapidly evolving financial landscape.
Synergy and Innovation: Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Ok-dong stated that the partnership will extend to the entire digital finance sector, aiming to provide customers with differentiated financial experiences. The collaboration combines Shinhan’s domestic subsidiary capabilities with Visa’s global network and technology.
