J.P. Morgan Asset Management reports that Taiwan's active ETF market is expanding beyond domestic stocks, with growing interest in global equities and fixed income.
What Happened
Active ETF Market Expansion: Taiwan's active ETF market reached NT$994.7 billion by the end of September, marking a 3.5% growth from the previous quarter. While domestic equity ETFs still account for 83% of the total, overseas equity and bond-based products are gaining significant traction.
Shifting Investment Strategies: J.P. Morgan Asset Management notes a clear trend of investors diversifying beyond the local market. Bond-based active ETFs saw a 39% increase in a single quarter, signaling a broader appetite for global fixed income and international equity exposure.
Global Capital Flows: The global ETF landscape remains dominated by the U.S. market, which has surged to $16.3 trillion in assets. However, capital is increasingly flowing into developed markets like Europe and Japan, while interest in emerging markets has shown signs of cooling.
Outlook for Diversification: The evolution of ETF strategies from passive index tracking to active management allows investors to better meet their growth and income objectives. Analysts suggest that the shift toward global allocation is a necessary response to the changing dynamics of the international financial landscape.
