Medigen Vaccine Biologics reported a 416% year-on-year revenue surge in August, driven by the initial export of its Enterovirus 71 vaccine to Vietnam.
What Happened
Revenue Growth: Medigen Vaccine Biologics announced its August revenue reached NT$236 million, marking a significant 399% monthly and 416% annual increase. This performance represents the company's highest single-month revenue in four years, signaling a strong recovery in operational momentum.
Market Expansion: The primary driver behind this growth is the Enterovirus 71 vaccine, which began shipping to Vietnam in early August following regulatory approval in March. General Manager Lee Sze-hsien highlighted that Vietnam's large annual birth rate offers a market potential that significantly exceeds domestic demand in Taiwan.
Strategic Focus: Targeting high-income segments in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, the company aims to establish a robust health protection network to mitigate severe disease risks in the region. Medigen is leveraging international supply chain efficiencies to scale up shipments and prepare for future regional demand.
Financial Outlook: With the expansion of its Southeast Asian footprint, the company is aggressively pursuing improved annual performance. Management remains focused on achieving a turnaround to profitability this year, supported by ongoing production line upgrades to sustain international growth.
