Mega Financial expects a stable housing market and aims for double-digit mortgage growth, emphasizing strict risk monitoring for multi-leverage borrowers.

What Happened

Market Outlook: Mega Financial President Chang Chuan-chang stated that the domestic housing market is expected to consolidate as it returns to fundamental demand from first-time buyers and upgraders. Despite regulatory tightening, the bank aims to achieve double-digit growth in its average mortgage balance for the year.

Risk Management: Addressing concerns over 'four-loan' leverage, the group has implemented comprehensive cross-subsidiary monitoring mechanisms. The bank reports that borrowers with three concurrent loans are in the single digits, reflecting a disciplined approach to credit risk and the '5P' lending principles.

Growth Drivers: As of the end of June, Mega Bank's consumer loan balance reached 631.1 billion TWD, a 5.48% year-on-year increase. Mortgage and wealth management loans remain the primary growth engines, with the mortgage balance alone reaching 436.8 billion TWD.

Regulatory Position: Mega Bank maintains a ratio under Article 72-2 of the Banking Act below 25%, well within the 30% statutory limit. This provides the bank with significant flexibility to continue expanding its consumer finance business while maintaining high asset quality.
