KGI Financial's H1 net worth surged on strong life insurance investment gains, with management pledging a competitive dividend policy for shareholders.

What Happened

Record-Breaking Performance: KGI Financial reported a strong first half with a net profit of NT$28.44 billion, bolstered by significant realized gains from its life insurance unit. The total contribution to retained earnings reached a record NT$67.78 billion, pushing the book value per share to NT$26.71.

Life Insurance Gains: KGI Life Insurance achieved an annualized investment return of 6.69%, significantly driven by a 38.02% return on its domestic equity portfolio. New business premiums grew by 63% year-over-year, with investment-linked products showing particularly robust momentum.

Dividend Commitment: CEO Yang Wen-chun assured investors that the company's dividend policy will remain competitive and will not lag behind industry peers. Analysts estimate that based on current earnings, the company could potentially pay out NT$1.7 per share, with management considering the use of capital reserves if necessary.

Subsidiary Contributions: While banking and securities units maintain a 70% profit remittance target, the life insurance arm is expected to increase its remittance ratio significantly above last year's 10%. Management emphasized that these decisions will balance the need for future business growth capital with shareholder returns.
