Semiconductor Fabless Firm HatchTech Drops Over 13% on KOSDAQ Debut

Electronic Technology · Semiconductors · yonhap_finance · 2026-08-25

HatchTech, a semiconductor SoC designer, saw its shares fall more than 13% on its first day of trading on the KOSDAQ market following a lukewarm IPO.

What Happened

Market Debut: Semiconductor fabless company HatchTech made its KOSDAQ debut on the 25th, but experienced a sharp decline of over 13% shortly after trading began. As of 9:02 AM, the stock was trading at 20,000 KRW, significantly below its initial public offering price of 23,000 KRW.

Company Profile: Established in 2017, HatchTech specializes in designing high-precision 3D magnetic sensor System-on-Chips (SoCs) that detect changes in magnetic fields to measure position and movement. Despite its specialized technological focus, the company's market entry has faced immediate downward pressure.

IPO Process: During the institutional demand forecasting phase, the company saw participation from 321 institutions, resulting in a competitive ratio of 101.91 to 1. Consequently, the IPO price was set at the bottom of the target range of 23,000 to 28,000 KRW.

Subscription Results: The public subscription phase recorded a competition ratio of 26 to 1, with 70 billion KRW in deposits collected. The weak opening performance reflects both the cautious sentiment established during the pricing phase and subsequent selling pressure from investors seeking early exits.
