KRX to Publish First List of Low-PBR Companies on November 2

Commercial Services · Financial Publishing/Services · yonhap_finance · 2026-09-11

The Korea Exchange will release its first list of low-PBR companies in November to encourage firms to improve their corporate value.

What Happened

Announcement Plan: The Korea Exchange (KRX) will publish its inaugural list of low-PBR (Price-to-Book Ratio) companies on November 2. This initiative is designed to encourage long-term undervalued listed firms to take proactive steps to enhance their corporate value.

Selection Criteria: Companies will be selected if their cumulative 3-year PBR falls within the bottom 25% for KOSPI or the bottom 10% for KOSDAQ within their respective sectors. Generally, firms that have remained below these thresholds for six consecutive semi-annual periods will be included, though exceptions apply for the initial November release.

Exemption Rules: Companies that disclose a corporate value improvement plan at least seven business days before the announcement date will be exempt from being listed for one year. However, firms that have been in the bottom tier for six consecutive years (12 semi-annual periods) will be included regardless of whether they submit an improvement plan.

Support and Outreach: The KRX is providing tools for companies to check their status and is hosting regional seminars across six locations in Korea. Moving forward, the list will be updated every May and November, with relevant tags to be displayed on brokerage mobile trading systems.
