Joint Development Agreement: India's state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and France's Safran Helicopter Engines have finalized a deal to co-develop the 'Arraballi' engine through their joint venture, SAFHAL Helicopter Engines. The project focuses on creating a new engine with a power output ranging from 3,500 to 4,000 shaft horsepower.
Strategic Significance: The engine is intended for India's upcoming 13-ton multi-role helicopters and various naval aircraft.
