Taiwan's stock market extended its losing streak to six days, with foreign investors offloading massive amounts of ETFs while surprisingly favoring airline stocks.

What Happened

Market Downturn: The Taiwan stock market continued its downward trend on the 5th, falling 1,374.19 points to close at 41,574.72. This marks the sixth consecutive session of losses, with the index failing to hold the 42,000-point support level.

Heavy Institutional Selling: Institutional investors offloaded a combined 123.46 billion TWD, with foreign investors accounting for 102.46 billion TWD of the selling pressure. Over the past six trading days, foreign investors have withdrawn over 614 billion TWD from the local market.

ETF Sell-off: Foreign selling was heavily concentrated in ETFs, which occupied seven of the top ten spots on the sell list. Active ETFs were particularly targeted, with the CTBC Taiwan Income ETF seeing the largest single-day outflow.

Airline Stocks in Focus: Despite the broad market sell-off, foreign investors showed a surprising appetite for the airline sector. China Airlines and EVA Air emerged as the top targets for foreign buying, standing out as rare bright spots in a bearish market.
