Despite market volatility in August, the number of Taiwanese companies with a market capitalization exceeding NT$1 trillion has reached a record high of 21, with AI supply chain firms dominating the list.
What Happened
Record Market Cap Milestone: The number of listed companies in Taiwan with a market capitalization exceeding NT$1 trillion has surged to 21, marking a significant increase from the end of last year. This growth highlights the resilience of large-cap stocks despite the high-level volatility observed throughout August.
AI Supply Chain Dominance: Approximately 80% of these trillion-dollar companies are part of the AI supply chain, underscoring the sector's pivotal role in attracting market capital. TSMC remains the market leader with a valuation of NT$62.49 trillion, followed by MediaTek and Delta Electronics.
Top Tier Market Leaders: Beyond the top three, companies such as Hon Hai, ASE Technology, and EMC have surpassed the NT$2 trillion valuation mark. These firms, alongside others like Nanya Technology and Unimicron, form the core of the top ten largest companies by market value in Taiwan.
Non-AI Sector Presence: Only four companies among the trillion-dollar group—Fubon Financial, Cathay Financial, CTBC Financial, and Chunghwa Telecom—are categorized outside the AI sector. This concentration emphasizes that current market momentum is heavily skewed toward technology and artificial intelligence-related investments.
