Taiwan's listed companies saw a 47.28% year-on-year revenue increase in September, led by strong performance in the electronic distribution and AI-related hardware sectors.
What Happened
September Revenue Growth: The Taiwan Stock Exchange reported that total revenue for all listed companies, excluding the financial sector, reached NT$6.16 trillion in September, marking a 47.28% year-on-year increase. A total of 760 companies recorded revenue growth, signaling robust market momentum.
Key Growth Sectors: The electronic distribution, oil and gas, and computer peripheral sectors led the gains. Growth in these areas was primarily driven by surging demand for AI servers and memory, alongside rising energy prices linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Year-to-Date Performance: Cumulative revenue for all listed companies through September reached NT$45.18 trillion, representing a 38.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The semiconductor industry, bolstered by high-performance computing and AI applications, remains a primary contributor to this cumulative growth.
Sectoral Headwinds: Conversely, the trading and department store sector saw a decline due to changes in subsidiary consolidation, while the cement and sports/leisure industries faced challenges from slowing demand in China and ongoing global inventory adjustments.
