IC packaging and testing firm StarPower Semiconductor soared to the daily limit after announcing a massive capital expenditure hike to meet surging AI and HPC demand.
What Happened
Positive Guidance: StarPower Semiconductor provided a bullish outlook during its investor conference, highlighting robust demand for AI-specific ASICs. The company announced an increase in its annual capital expenditure to NT$13.427 billion to aggressively expand its advanced packaging and testing capacity.
Operational Strategy: With high-performance computing (HPC) accounting for 51% of its revenue, the company has successfully completed 2nm product certification and entered mass production. Management expects these investments to drive growth into next year, with a strategic focus on silicon photonics and CPO technologies.
Short-term Logistics: Despite the strong long-term outlook, some shipments originally slated for the third quarter were delayed to the fourth quarter due to wafer supply constraints at the 2nm and 3nm nodes. Investors are closely monitoring wafer delivery schedules and order fulfillment progress for the remainder of the year.
Technological Edge: The company is deepening its collaboration with clients on 2.5D and CoWoS processes while expanding its wafer testing capabilities. These efforts are aimed at securing a larger share of the AI data center and high-end server processor market as demand continues to scale.
