What Happened

Policy Goals and Vision: President Lai Ching-te has set a strategic goal to add 40 new companies to the Taiwan Innovation Board (TIB) within two years to bolster the local startup ecosystem. TWSE Chairman Lin Shyh-ming emphasized that the exchange is committed to building a globally competitive fundraising platform to realize the vision of becoming an 'Asian Nasdaq.'

Strong Operational Performance: As of the end of September, over 30 companies have listed on the TIB, raising more than NT$18.2 billion in initial capital. The sector has shown robust growth, with aggregate revenue for TIB-listed firms rising nearly 70% in the first nine months, while pre-tax profits surged by 151% in the first half of the year.

Institutional Reforms: The TWSE is implementing three major upgrades, including allowing lead underwriters to participate in pre-listing capital increases to act as strategic partners. Furthermore, trading mechanisms for the Innovation Board have been aligned with the main board, and cross-departmental resources are being integrated to help startups connect with international capital.

Future Strategic Roadmap: TWSE President Lih-Chung Lee outlined four key initiatives, including increasing broker participation, streamlining audit procedures to reduce administrative burdens, and collaborating with venture capital firms to facilitate international exposure. These efforts are designed to enhance institutional investor interest and improve the overall efficiency of the fundraising environment.
