KGI Securities has approved a syndicated loan of up to NT$21.3 billion from eight banks to support its growing brokerage and financing business amid a robust Taiwan stock market.

What Happened

Syndicated Loan Approval: KGI Securities' board of directors has officially approved a three-year syndicated loan facility with a maximum limit of NT$21.3 billion. This move is designed to bolster the firm's working capital in response to the sustained high trading volume and increased financing demand in the Taiwan stock market this year.

Banking Syndicate: The loan is being organized by a group of eight financial institutions, including First Bank, Bank of Taiwan, Mega Bank, Hua Nan Bank, Chang Hwa Bank, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, and Rakuten International Commercial Bank. The final loan amount will be determined upon the formal execution of the syndicated credit agreement.

Strategic Capital Allocation: The proceeds from this facility will be fully utilized to strengthen the company's medium-term operational liquidity and overall financial capacity. This reflects a broader trend among securities firms to proactively secure capital as market activity remains elevated.

Industry-Wide Fundraising: Securities firms in Taiwan have reached record-high levels of capital raising this year through bond issuances, cash capital increases, and syndicated loans. KGI Securities has been particularly active, having already issued NT$12.8 billion in corporate bonds and planning an additional NT$20 billion issuance alongside this new credit facility.
