Franklin Templeton is set to list the FT Core AI Power & Compute ETF (009831) on October 29, focusing on the critical intersection of energy and AI hardware.

What Happened

New ETF Launch: Franklin Templeton has announced the launch of the FT Core AI Power & Compute ETF (009831), scheduled to list on October 29 with an issue price of 10 TWD. The fund is designed to capture the entire AI value chain, spanning power infrastructure, hardware, and software applications.

Power as a Priority: As data center operations scale up, energy supply has become a critical bottleneck for the AI industry. The ETF focuses on the dual pillars of power and compute, ensuring investors gain exposure to the essential infrastructure required for long-term AI development.

Surging Energy Demand: According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global data center electricity consumption is projected to more than double from 415 TWh in 2024 to 945 TWh by 2030. This massive increase in power demand has shifted investment focus from pure-play chips to the underlying energy infrastructure.

Index Composition: The fund tracks the Solactive Core AI Power & Compute Technology Index, which includes 50 constituents across the US, Canada, Hong Kong, and Japan. The portfolio is strategically weighted with 40% in power supply chains, while AI hardware, software, and applications each account for 20%.
