Since bottoming out in late July, Taiwan stocks have shown resilience and reached new highs, fueled by significant net buying from foreign and domestic institutional investors.
What Happened
Established Bullish Trend: Since hitting a bottom in late July, the Taiwan stock market has maintained a strong bullish trend, characterized by higher highs and higher lows, culminating in a record intraday high of 48,601 points. Despite geopolitical and macroeconomic headwinds, the market has demonstrated remarkable resilience.
Institutional Buying Power: Between late July and yesterday, institutional investors net bought NT$440.2 billion in stocks. Foreign investors led the charge with NT$389.5 billion in net purchases, supported by a strengthening New Taiwan Dollar that attracted significant international capital inflows.
Strategic Capital Allocation: Foreign investment has been heavily concentrated in the electronics sector, particularly in AI-related blue-chip stocks. Major companies like MediaTek, Yang Ming, and Novatek have been among the top targets, signaling strong international confidence in the long-term growth of Taiwan's tech sector.
Market Resilience: Despite earlier concerns regarding AI bubbles and US interest rate policies, the market has proven its resilience through strong fundamentals and consistent institutional support. With continued buying from foreign and domestic funds, the market has successfully navigated volatility to establish a clear medium-to-long-term upward trend.
