Baojing Energy Reports August Revenue Drop to Yearly Low Amid Extreme Weather

Renewable energy firm Baojing Energy saw its August revenue fall 26.67% month-over-month due to heavy rainfall in Pingtung, prompting a shift toward asset management.

What Happened

Revenue Performance: Baojing Energy reported August consolidated revenue of NT$90.44 million, marking a 26.67% monthly decline and a 34% year-over-year drop, hitting a new low for the year. The company attributed the poor performance to severe weather conditions in Pingtung, where heavy rainfall significantly hampered solar power generation throughout the month.

Operational Resilience: Despite the revenue dip, the company maintained a monthly operating margin of over 20%, demonstrating the effectiveness of its green power supply efficiency improvements. As weather conditions improved in September, the company's solar sites in Linbian and Fangliao quickly returned to normal, with daily power generation exceeding 500,000 kWh.

Strategic Diversification: To reduce reliance on weather-dependent revenue, Baojing is leveraging its proprietary monitoring systems to expand into third-party asset management services. The company has already attracted interest from life insurance firms looking to outsource the management of their own solar assets, aiming to generate stable management fees.

Future Growth: The company is simultaneously pushing forward with self-owned projects, having reached an agreement with a real estate group to install solar facilities on its properties. This 2.3MW project is expected to begin construction by the end of this year and reach completion in 2025, adding to the company's long-term capacity.
