Allianz has introduced an active ETF focusing on the Asian semiconductor supply chain, aiming to leverage the region's dominance in AI-driven technology.
What Happened
Targeting AI Supply Chains: Allianz Global Investors has launched Taiwan's first active Asian semiconductor ETF (00412A), managed by industry veteran Hsiao Hui-chung. The fund is designed to capitalize on the critical role Asian semiconductor firms play in the global generative AI ecosystem.
Regional Dominance: Asia currently accounts for approximately 90% of global advanced semiconductor manufacturing capacity. With Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan leading in foundry, memory, and materials, the region has established an irreplaceable competitive advantage.
The 'Pick and Shovel' Strategy: Manager Hsiao Hui-chung emphasizes that Asia serves as the primary supplier for the AI industry's essential components. As demand for computing power and high-speed transmission grows, the fund aims to invest in companies that control these vital technological bottlenecks.
Active Management Approach: Unlike passive index funds, this ETF utilizes an active management strategy to identify high-potential opportunities within the semiconductor sector. This allows for a more dynamic response to the rapidly evolving AI landscape and technological shifts.
