Wiwynn Chair Addresses Fractional Share Controversy, Prioritizes Minority Shareholders

Wiwynn (6669-TW) has introduced a compensation plan for minority shareholders affected by its recent stock dividend distribution, following public backlash over fractional share issues.

What Happened

Origin of the Controversy: Wiwynn recently underwent an ex-rights transaction, distributing approximately 1,982.79 shares for every 1,000 shares held. This resulted in more than half of the company's retail shareholders being left with fractional shares, sparking significant discontent.

Compensation Plan: To address the issue, the company announced that shareholders holding between 1 and 15 shares are eligible to purchase one full share at a par value of NT$10. This initiative aims to prioritize the interests of those most impacted by the distribution structure.

Management Response: Chair Hong Li-ning clarified that the move is not a share buyback and confirmed that all procedures were coordinated with regulatory authorities in advance. She emphasized that the announcement was made immediately following the completion of internal calculations.

Execution Details: Eligible shareholders must complete their payments between September 16 and September 30, with any unclaimed shares to be purchased by the Public Welfare Platform Foundation and National Taiwan University.
