Recall Details: Popular hand warmer brand OCOOPA has initiated a recall in the United States due to lithium battery overheating risks. The affected models include the UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD.).
Local Action: Taiwan's Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) has ordered local e-commerce platforms and distributors to preemptively remove these products from shelves. Authorities are currently verifying import records to ensure all affected units are accounted for and recalled according to regulations.
Regulatory Framework: To address safety concerns with rechargeable appliances, the BSMI has expanded its mandatory inspection list since 2023 to include 14 categories, including hand warmers. These products are subject to rigorous testing for temperature rise, insulation, and electromagnetic compatibility.
