Global Smartphone Panel Shipments to See Milder 2.5% Decline in 2026, Driven by Secondary Markets
Electronic Technology · Electronic Components · cnyes · 2026-08-31
TrendForce reports that despite supply chain cost pressures, robust demand from the secondary and repair markets will help stabilize 2026 smartphone panel shipments.
What Happened
Market Outlook: Although memory supply constraints are pressuring smartphone supply chain costs, the secondary and repair markets are providing unexpected support. Global smartphone panel shipments for 2026 are now projected to reach 2.25 billion units, a milder decline of 2.5% than previously anticipated.
Technology Trends: The market is increasingly polarizing between AMOLED and a-Si LCD technologies. While AMOLED continues to penetrate the mid-to-high-end segment, a-Si LCD maintains a significant presence in the low-end, secondary, and repair markets due to its cost-effectiveness.
Competitive Landscape: BOE remains the global leader with a 26.1% market share, followed by SDC, which focuses on AMOLED for flagship devices. TCL CSOT has reached a record 15% market share, driven by increased output from its T19 production line.
Strategic Shifts: As LTPS LCD applications face shrinking demand in the smartphone sector, manufacturers are pivoting their capacity toward automotive and IT markets. This transition reflects a broader effort by panel makers to optimize product portfolios amidst shifting smartphone demand.
