National Growth Fund Strengthens Risk Oversight and Leads Investment in Honam Region

The National Growth Fund has established new risk and post-management committees while approving 1 trillion won in funding, with a focus on Honam-based projects.
What Happened
Governance Update: The National Growth Fund has launched dedicated risk management and post-management committees to enhance its decision-making framework. These bodies will oversee investment risks and manage the recovery of funds, ensuring more rigorous oversight as the fund's portfolio grows.
Investment Distribution: Between January and September, the fund approved 18.9 trillion won across 35 projects. Notably, the Honam region received the largest share of funding, accounting for 5.17 trillion won or 28.7% of the total investment volume.
Key Projects: The latest approvals include funding for the Yawol Offshore Wind Farm, which marks the first commercial application of large-scale domestic wind turbines. Additionally, the fund is supporting DN Solutions in building a research center for advanced smart machinery using AI control technology.
Sectoral Support: Further funding was allocated to companies in the electric vehicle battery, semiconductor materials, and humanoid robotics sectors, including Hwashin, PKC, and Koneq. These investments are aimed at bolstering the domestic supply chain and fostering technological innovation in strategic industries.
