What Happened
Market Performance: The Taiwan Stock Exchange index climbed 357.12 points to close at 48,157.29, marking a 0.75% gain. Trading volume remained robust, reaching NT$855.95 billion as investors positioned themselves ahead of the upcoming holiday.
Institutional Activity: Institutional investors were net buyers, injecting NT$38.92 billion into the market. Foreign investors led the buying spree with a net purchase of NT$37.31 billion, while proprietary traders also contributed to the positive momentum.
Tech Sector: Major tech stocks drove the rally, with TSMC rising to NT$2,500 and Foxconn seeing gains. The cooling module sector stood out, as Jentech and FOSITE both hit record-high share prices, reflecting strong demand for high-end electronic components.
Traditional Industries: Non-tech sectors also performed well, led by Taiwan Cement, which surged over 4% following its acquisition of Ukraine-based IFCEM. Chemical and rubber stocks also saw significant interest, with Shangpin hitting the daily limit and Chung Hwa Chemical reaching a new peak.
