China Airlines achieved record-breaking Q3 revenue, supported by robust passenger travel and high demand for AI-related air freight shipments.
What Happened
Record Performance: China Airlines reported a record-breaking September revenue of NT$20.933 billion, a 31.86% increase year-on-year. This performance pushed Q3 revenue to NT$65.116 billion and cumulative nine-month revenue to NT$185.919 billion, both setting new historical highs for the carrier.
Passenger Expansion: Despite the traditional off-season, holiday demand helped sustain passenger revenue. The airline is expanding its network by adding new routes between Kaohsiung and Seoul and increasing flight frequencies to Australia and New Zealand to capitalize on the upcoming autumn travel season and sustained long-haul demand.
Cargo Growth: The air cargo market has rebounded from the summer lull, driven by AI supply chain shipments and the launch of new consumer electronics. Increased demand for IT equipment, machinery, and automotive parts has led to stable cargo volumes and rising freight rates, significantly boosting revenue.
Q4 Outlook: Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company expects the year-end holiday shopping season in Europe and the US to sustain air freight demand. With a balanced strategy between passenger and cargo operations, China Airlines remains optimistic about maintaining its growth momentum through the end of the year.
