Chicony Power's CEO reports a doubling of orders for satellite communication power products, prompting an urgent capacity expansion at its Thailand facility.

What Happened

Satellite Power Demand Surge: Chicony Power's CEO Tseng Kuo-hua announced that new communication power products for low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites are seeing demand double expectations. The company is rapidly expanding production at its Thailand plant to meet this urgent order influx, with momentum expected to last through Q1 next year.

Strategic Operational Shift: With strong demand for AI server and satellite power, these segments are projected to account for 30% of total revenue next year. Chicony plans to increase capital expenditure to between NT$1 billion and NT$1.5 billion to bolster production capacity for these high-growth areas.

Financial Performance: The company reported a Q3 net profit of NT$144 million, down 82% sequentially due to memory price volatility and delayed shipments. Despite these short-term headwinds, management remains optimistic about the long-term growth trajectory driven by high-power server and satellite power solutions.

Future Outlook: While the notebook market remains sluggish, the company expects its LEO satellite production capacity to double next year. The focus remains on leveraging AI server and satellite power as the primary engines for future operational growth.
