Electronic Technology · Semiconductors · yonhap_finance · 2026-09-10
TSMC reported a record-breaking 53.3% surge in August revenue, driven by relentless demand for AI infrastructure and high-end chip manufacturing.
What Happened
Record Revenue: TSMC reported August revenue of 514.8 billion TWD, marking a 53.3% increase compared to the same period last year. This result sets a new monthly record, surpassing the previous high set just one month prior in July.
AI Demand Surge: Analysts attribute the growth to the massive global demand for AI infrastructure. As the primary manufacturer for tech giants like Nvidia and Apple, TSMC is struggling to keep pace with orders despite aggressive expansion of its production facilities.
Outlook Upgrade: Confident that the AI semiconductor boom will persist through 2027 and beyond, TSMC has raised its capital expenditure and revenue forecasts. The company expects annual capital spending to reach a record high of $60 billion to $64 billion.
Growth Trajectory: Cumulative revenue for the first eight months of the year is up 39.3% year-over-year. TSMC anticipates that its annual revenue will grow by more than 40% in dollar terms, underscoring its dominant position in the global foundry market.
