Lotte Rental reported a 9.6% year-on-year increase in Q2 operating profit to 84.6 billion won, driven by strong growth in both long and short-term rentals.
What Happened
Financial Performance: Lotte Rental announced a solid second quarter, with operating profit reaching 84.6 billion won, a 9.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue also saw a steady rise of 2.3%, totaling 765.8 billion won.
Segment Growth: The long-term auto rental segment grew by 5.1% in revenue, while the short-term rental business surged with a 76.2% increase in operating profit. A notable rise in foreign customer demand, which now accounts for 37% of short-term rental revenue, significantly contributed to these results.
Global Expansion: The company officially launched short-term rental services for Korean travelers in Okinawa this July through a partnership with Japan's Orix Auto. Lotte Rental intends to expand this service model to other major Japanese cities, including Sapporo and Fukuoka.
Strategic Outlook: CEO Choi Jin-hwan emphasized that the company's focus on its core rental business is driving sustained profitability. Lotte plans to leverage its operational expertise and customer service to maintain its dominant position in the domestic market.
