IC design firm Weltrend Semiconductor reported record-breaking August revenue of NT$428 million, driven by strong demand for AI server cooling control ICs.
What Happened
Operating Performance: Weltrend Semiconductor announced its August consolidated revenue reached NT$428 million, a monthly increase of 6.2% and a 32.1% year-on-year jump, setting a new historical monthly record. The cumulative revenue for the first eight months reached NT$3.039 billion, up 30.4% compared to the previous year.
Growth Drivers: The company's strong performance is largely fueled by AI hardware investments, with cooling fan motor control ICs seeing a 64% year-on-year growth in the first half. These solutions have been integrated into GPU, ASIC, and general-purpose server platforms, serving as a key revenue pillar.
Product Strategy: In the USB PD control IC segment, Weltrend has expanded into the laptop power-receiving market and secured AMD platform certification, with small-scale shipments expected in the second half of the year. Furthermore, the acquisition of Sentelic has successfully diversified the company's portfolio from consumer electronics into server applications.
Future Outlook: As server applications continue to grow, cooling fan motor control ICs are expected to become the company's largest product line, surpassing USB PD control ICs. Weltrend is focused on optimizing its product mix to strengthen its competitive position within the AI and server supply chains.
