What Happened
Financial Performance: Starlux Airlines reported an August revenue of NT$5.58 billion, marking a 47.8% year-on-year increase and the second-highest monthly figure in its history. For the first eight months of the year, total revenue reached NT$39.86 billion, reflecting a 34% growth compared to the same period last year.
Operational Drivers: Passenger revenue grew by 45%, while cargo revenue climbed 41%, supported by strong demand for AI and semiconductor shipments from Asia to North America. The airline has also enhanced its European connectivity through a new partnership with Smartwings.
Strategic Expansion: The carrier is aggressively expanding its presence in central and southern Taiwan, with new routes from Taichung and Kaohsiung launching through early 2025. Winter schedules include increased flight frequencies and larger aircraft deployments to accommodate seasonal travel demand.
Technical Milestone: Starlux has successfully obtained EASA maintenance certification, a prestigious international standard for aviation safety. This achievement allows the airline to provide maintenance services for other carriers, opening a new revenue stream for its technical division.
