Powerchip Investment Holding has initiated a NT$1 billion share buyback program to provide liquidity for shareholders, with over 4.4 million shares approved within two days.
What Happened
Buyback Program Launch: Powerchip Investment Holding has officially launched a NT$1 billion share buyback program, offering a liquidity exit for its unlisted shareholders. Following an initial offer price of NT$42 per share, the company processed 216 applications within two days, totaling over 4.4 million shares worth NT$186 million.
Execution and Limits: The first phase of the buyback is scheduled to conclude on November 6, with the company adjusting prices based on market conditions. If the total buyback amount reaches the NT$1 billion board-approved cap, the company will immediately announce a halt to further applications.
Employee Incentive Strategy: Under current regulations, the repurchased shares are intended for resale to employees at cost. This move is designed to attract and retain top talent, fostering a long-term incentive structure that aligns employee interests with the company's profitability and shareholder value.
Strategic Liquidity Goals: Beyond employee compensation, the buyback serves as a strategic step as the company prepares for its Emerging Stock Market listing. By providing a clear exit path for existing shareholders, Powerchip aims to improve equity liquidity while utilizing gains from recent overseas asset divestitures.
